As the Director of Development at the It Gets Better Project, I see LGBTQ+ youth carving out their own space and claiming the respect they rightly deserve. I’m always in awe of their bravery and determination.
As they grow up in a world that wants to snuff them out, LGBTQ+ youth are fighting to just be. We believe young, queer people shouldn’t have to be brave to exist. That’s why I’m emailing you today — to let you know we’re kicking off our year-end campaign and to invite you to show us you believe in better.
Over the last two years, here’s what believing in better, and using the generous support from our supporters, has accomplished:
- Granting LGBTQ+ students more than $1.2 million to create safe spaces in schools across the United States and Canada.
- Creating award-winning content series educating LGBTQ+ youth on safe sex ed, inclusive terminology, careers in STEM and more.
- Handing LGBTQ+ youth the mic to advocate for themselves — at national conferences, on our award-winning Twitch vodcast “Perfectly Queer,” in interviews with major news outlets and more.
